FOR
DRILLING
It seems that
the most popular pins are 1/8" in diameter although pins of
3/16"and 1/4" are sometimes used. These pins most often
come in lengths of 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" and 1".
We maintain substantial inventories of dowel pins in all of these
popular diameters and lengths.
In the 1/8"
diameter category, we offer both "Dowel"
pins and "Tooling"
pins at the same low price.

Dowel
Pins are nicely rounded on one end while the other end
is only slightly tapered and bluntly cut off. They are"Case
Hardened" (hard on the outside and substantially
softer on the inside.) They can bend or "Mushroom" when
struck. |

|
Tooling
Pins are nicely rounded on both ends. They are "Through
Hardened" (hard inside and out.) We normally recommend
tooling pins over Dowel Pins but have customers for both and thus
carry extensive inventories of both. |

Step
Pins: Some circuit board manufacturers wish to employ the
1/4" lamination holes to set up their drilling; however, they
do not wish to chew up their soft tooling plates with 1/4" holes.
Our Step Pins answer this need
by having a 1/4" diameter on the top and 1/8" diameter on
the bottom. |

|
Tack
Pins: Still other circuit board manufacturers, particularly
"Flex" shops, order pins that look like thumb tacks with
1/4" diameter head with a .030" thickness on a 1/8"
diameter pin in a variety of lengths. |
